How to Get Your Kid to Let You Brush Her Hair

Isn't there an old wives' tale advising one hundred strokes before bed? Yeah, right. Most parents would happily settle for ten strokes before school. The 'bed head' look may be popular with teenagers, but does it work on a three-year-old?

Ways to Go About  It

* K.I.S.S.- Keep It Short!!! Sounds stupid right?. If your child really has a hard time getting her hair brushed, combed or braided, keep it short. It's simpler.

* Wash her hair every other night, using both a kid's shampoo and a separate kids' conditioner. (To minimize annoyance with the process, put the shampoo on first, then the conditioner, comb/detangle it before you rinse all at once. This should make it less unruly.

* If your child has curly hair, wash it two or three times a week or keep it braided.

* Use a "tangle free" spray to reduce the formation of knots.

* Seek expert advice. Ask your hairdresser which type of hairbrush and hair products will work best for your child's hair type.

Help The Situation

° Comb or brush her hair while she is in the shower or bath. Don't wait for a larger battle later.

° Start at the ends (where the knots are) and work your way up. This will minimize discomfort. Hold the hair above the knots so that you don't pull at your child's scalp.

° For kids who enjoy having special ribbons and barrettes in their hairs, make these accessories an incentive. Tell your daughter that you are going to make her look like a princess, a favourites character, or a friend who always wears barrettes.

° Brush, braid or weave your child's hair while she's in front of the television, computer (if that will work for you) or better yet, while your spouse or any other person that she likes reads aloud to her. When distracted, kids are less likely to complain.

BEST POEM IN THE WORLD

Aren't we all judgemental at times? Even with the humour with which this poem was written, it sends an important message to all of us. What do you think, read for yourself.

My All Time Favourite.

I was shocked, confused, bewildered
As I entered Heaven's door,
Not by the beauty of it all,
Nor the lights or its decor.

But it was the folks in Heaven
Who made me sputter and gasp--
The thieves, the liars, the sinners,
The alcoholics and the trash.

There stood the kid from seventh grade
Who swiped my lunch money twice.
Next to him was my old neighbour
Who never said anything nice.

Bob, who I always thought
Was rotting away in hell,
Was sitting pretty on cloud nine,
Looking incredibly well.

I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal?
I would love to hear Your take.
How'd all these sinners get up here?
God must've made a mistake.

'And why is everyone so quiet,
So sombre - give me a clue.'
'Hush, child,' He said,
'they're all in shock.
No one thought they'd be seeing you.'

JUDGE NOT!!

Remember...Just going to church doesn't make you a
Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Every saint has a PAST...
Every sinner has a FUTURE!
Now it's your turn... Share this poem.

Life without God is like an unsharpened pencil...
It has no point!

Thanks Eva, for sharing.

How To Avoid Frozen Pipes

Although we can't wait for spring to come, we  have to always remember  that  we are still in the cold season.  Winter is here and there are some important things in our homes that we need to take extra care of. Such things are mostly forgotten by many but once they get damaged, we now realized what great mistakes we have made. One of them is our pipes. We must not forget to keep them from being frozen. You can get more information from your local Rotorooter. I cannot forget the ugly incident that happened to a friend.  We were out with the kids last winter  when she got a phone call from her sister. Their apartment was flooded with water due to burst water pipe. At first, we were all confused but she managed to call a plumber before heading to the scene. Off-course everything was put under control but with lots of damages and it blew their finances.
According to State Farm Insurance Statistics, approximately 250,000 families suffer damaged homes every winter because of  frozen  water pipes that bursts.  A 3mm crack could emit about 250 gallons of water daily.

Sharing Strategies With Children

You can develop fiscally responsible adults by starting when they are small. While managing your family's finances, teach your young one too. You don't want your children to repeat the mistakes that you made.
Here are some age-appropriate ways to pass on financial lessons:

WHEN THEY YOUNG
Pay bills together. Let them sit down with you when you are balancing your chequebook so they will understand that money comes in, but you have bills to pay. And sign them up if possible for programs focused on economics and financial camps and workshops such as those offered by World of Money or Creative Wealth International.

WHEN THEY ARE TEENAGERS
Get them involved. Give the child a job and have them look for scholarships. Web sites such as Scholarships.com  and fastweb.com are a good place to start.

WHEN THEY ARE ADULTS
Discuss finances. Share information with trusted adult children. This  will make it easier for them to take over if they have to, and lets them recognise what they are doing today to improve upon their parents' experience.
